Social workers are the people who help the people who are in need. They provide psychological, social and financial support to the underprivileged sections of society. They believe that people need help and you ought to help them. They assist families, work for senior citizens, provide support to vulnerable populations and help the underprivileged and abandoned children
.
But life of a social worker is not that easy as it seems. They face various challenges. They not only work in offices and residences but they have to travel a lot. They need to visit clients and attend meetings at different places. They even travel to remote places and live without luxuries and materialistic comforts. Their main aim is to help others. They even face problems of under-staffing though now there is an increasing trend in the number of people who have started volunteering for social causes in the recent past. They try everything to help their clients but sometimes they do feel helpless as the clients’ problems are not in their duty range.
To become a volunteer for a social cause, you do not need much except a strong desire to help others but to be a social worker, you need some qualification. A bachelor’s degree is necessary for entry-level positions while a master’s degree in social work or related field is required for higher positions.
Finally, I would like to say that social service is not an easy job though many people are now developing it as a career. You need a really good heart, strong desire to bring change in society, patience to deal with people and equality among people. Moreover, you also need to convince your family to encourage you for this work. So, I salute all those brave people who have taken the responsibility of bringing a change in the society.
